Interior insulation: warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and quieter all year

Interior insulation treats walls, ceilings and floors from inside your home, without touching the façade or the building’s common parts. MM RENOV PARIS designs and installs thermal and acoustic insulation for period apartments and houses alike, with one team from assessment to finishing.

Thermal insulation: cutting heat loss

External walls, ceilings under the roof and floors above a cellar or unheated space are where most heat escapes. Insulating them improves comfort, removes the cold-wall feeling and lowers heating use, which helps improve the property’s DPE energy rating.

We choose the technique and material to suit the wall, the space available and how the room is used, and we treat the junctions (window reveals, floors, internal walls) to limit thermal bridges.

  • Wall linings on metal studwork or masonry inner leaf
  • Mineral or bio-based insulation (wood fibre, cellulose, hemp)
  • Loft, sloping ceiling and under-roof insulation
  • Insulation of ground floors above a cellar or car park
  • Vapour control and ventilation so old walls stay healthy

Acoustic insulation: getting the quiet back

Neighbours, street noise or sound between rooms: soundproofing combines mass, decoupling and airtightness. We isolate new linings from the existing structure to stop both airborne and impact noise travelling through.

  • Acoustic partitions and wall linings between rooms or flats
  • Acoustic suspended ceilings on anti-vibration hangers
  • Resilient underlays beneath parquet or tiles against impact noise
  • Weak points dealt with: ducts, boxing-in, doors and windows

In a Haussmann or period apartment

Cornicing, fireplaces and panelling deserve to be kept. Before any work, we survey the apartment and recommend which walls to insulate first, a sensible thickness, and what needs removing and restoring. Interior insulation takes a little floor area, and we quantify that with you before you decide.

Work inside your private parts generally does not need a vote at the co-owners’ general meeting. We check the building rules with you and organise the work to keep disruption to neighbours to a minimum.

Interior insulation FAQ

Interior or exterior insulation: which should I choose?

Exterior insulation deals with thermal bridges without losing floor area, but it changes the façade and needs the co-owners’ approval and often planning consent. In a Paris stone building, interior insulation is usually the realistic option. We advise you after a site visit.

How much floor area does interior insulation take?

It depends on the material and the performance targeted. A wall lining is generally a few centimetres per insulated wall. Your quote states the exact thickness and its effect on each room.

Can I soundproof an apartment without redoing everything?

Yes. You can treat only the wall or ceiling the noise comes through, for example an acoustic lining on the party wall or a decoupled suspended ceiling. An on-site assessment identifies the noise path before a solution is chosen.

Are there grants for insulation?

French schemes such as MaPrimeRénov’ and energy-saving certificates (CEE) can fund part of thermal insulation work. Their conditions change often and most require an RGE-certified contractor for the work concerned, so we go through this with you when preparing your quote.
